I started my marketing career at Clarks Shoes in the mid-1990s. In those pre-Google days my main tools were advertising and promotional campaigns. Subsequent jobs including roles at Pifco (if you bought a Russell Hobbs kettle in 1999, thank you) and the Co-operative Group were opportunities to develop my skills in strategic marketing planning and project management. I ran a number of successful campaigns, and learnt much about effective direct mail, email marketing, and the web.
Social media is a natural progression for me. It’s all about communication, and that’s what I love. By applying my experiences of traditional marketing to this new environment, I make social media a solid business tool for my clients. And because I have this wider background, I understand how to integrate social media with existing marketing activities.
No matter how excited we get by the possibilities, social media has to be part of a bigger plan if you are to get the best benefit from it. That’s why I also help clients to create marketing strategies, and work closely with them to pull together everything they need to market their business effectively.
When I can be dragged away from chatting with strangers online, you’ll find me putting my communication skills to the ultimate test as I enjoy family life with my husband and two kids in our canalside home in Macclesfield.
