What are your business’s overall goals? How can social media help you towards them? Where does it fit within your overall marketing strategy? We talk about what’s possible and what you want to achieve, and I create a strategy that makes the most effective use of the tools available.

How do you want your Facebook pages to look? What should your Twitter name be? What goes in your LinkedIn profile? I make sure your social media sites reflect your brand image and attract the people you want to reach.
Generating and posting your content
Having an account is one thing – but what do you actually SAY? That depends on what sort of business you are.
Fun, light-hearted content that’s right for a consumer brand won’t necessarily work for, say, a business-to-business service. For that, you might need practical tips, or discussions around topics of mutual interest. Social media is a great way to showcase your expertise, so we’ll talk about how we can use it to build a reputation for you as an expert in your field.

Increasing your fan and follower base
It’s surprisingly easy to get thousands of followers. What’s harder is to build a follower base that’s of genuine value to your business. That’s where I come in. I identify and follow real people who are likely to be interested in what you offer. As they follow back, you connect with an increasing number of potential customers and build a network of useful contacts.
Communicating with your fans and followers
Social media is about presenting the human face of your business, listening to what people have to say, creating connections, building relationships. The more interactions you have, the greater the trust you build up. And that trust plays a key part in growing your business.
For that reason, I don’t sit and wait for people to start a conversation. I take the initiative by welcoming new followers, asking questions, and stimulating discussions. And of course, I also provide responses to whatever comes in. That could include answers to product enquiries and first-line replies to customer service queries, as well as general conversation that gives your business the human touch.
Finding and following up sales leads
Tell me who you’ve met and who you want to meet, and I’ll connect with them for you. It’s a great way to keep in touch with people who could become customers.
Managing competitions and promotional activity
With experience of what works and what doesn’t, I can build on your ideas or contribute my own suggestions for competitions and promotional activities. I keep up to date with Facebook apps, to help you make the most of the opportunities available. Once we have agreed what you want to do, I’ll organise all the technicalities and get the activity up and running. I also make sure you don’t fall foul of the legalities. Get it wrong, and you run the very real risk of having your page taken down by Facebook.
Monitoring your reputation
You can’t prevent people saying bad things about you. But at least when they use social media, you’ll know. If this happens, I’ll be on the case, turning the situation around and protecting your interests.
Administering and organising your follower lists
The under-the-bonnet work that keeps everything running smoothly. Responses to show new followers you’ve noticed them, Twitter lists that make it easy to see who’s doing what. Let me know what or who you want to watch or interact with most closely, and I’ll organise your lists accordingly.
