I know that if you choose me to work as your Social Media Manager, you are trusting me to be the voice of your business. It’s a responsibility I take very seriously.
The seven-step process outline below shows how the service works. We’ll follow this together to make sure you get what’s right for your business.
1. Strategic Discussion
We meet so you can get to know more about me and I can learn about your business, your customers, and your competitors. From this, I assess how your business could benefit from social media. Usually, I will see plenty of opportunities. But if I don’t think social media is the best use of your marketing budget right now, I’ll say so.
2. Detailed Proposal
You get a detailed proposal outlining my recommended strategy, suggesting an appropriate practical approach, and explaining my prices.
3. Tactical Discussions
Once you give me the go-ahead, we meet again. This time, we talk about the nitty-gritty of what you do, who your target audience might be, and what sort of people they are. We think about how to develop an authentic tone of voice that both reflects your/your brand’s personality and also connects directly with your target audience, and we agree what sort of messages and activity will best help you achieve your goals.
4. I Start Work
I set up accounts, start looking for and connecting with people who are likely to be interested in what you offer, and post content and messages to encourage interaction. Social media is all about relationships. Organisations that merely broadcast information don’t see success. So you’ll also see me responding to follower comments, and finding and sharing content from other sources where it’s relevant and interesting to your fans.
The open nature of social media means you can always see what I’m doing. If you’re not happy with anything, just tell me. If you have other ideas, let me know. And if you’re confident posting your own updates as well, that’s great.
Every business is different, so I don’t just follow a standard schedule of activity for every client. Instead, I monitor progress and fine-tune activity accordingly. If a particular tactic stimulates lots of interaction, I’ll use it again. If a tactic turns out to be less successful, I’ll make some carefully considered changes.
You get a monthly report, based on agreed objectives. If you are happy to give me access to your Google Analytics account, I can also include a report on how many visitors are coming to your website from social media and which activities are bringing them there.
My reports always put the information into context and include my interpretation of what the numbers actually mean. I’ll tell you if I think we should be doing something differently, or if there is anything else I need from you to help improve the results
7. Three Month Review
It will normally be at least three months before you can draw any useful conclusions about what we are doing. I always build in a full review for this three-month point, so we can assess progress together and plan next steps.
